It’s hard to believe,  but the term“French” drains have nothing at all to do with France.  Henry French, of Concord Massachusetts and a graduate of Harvard College, published the first definitive book on drainage in 1859 called; Farm Drainage.  Since that time all subterranean drain systems have been respectfully referred to as “French Drains”.

Acuterra designs and builds all of our subterranean or French drain systems to the highest standards.  We utilize only the most rugged and durable materials.  Underground work is very labor intensive.  Acuterra often uses commercial and industrial pumps and other materials that may be 2 – 8 times the cost of those available at local home improvement stores. But as a percentage of the overall cost, the difference is quite small.  Our systems are designed to be robust and provide many years of reliable service.
